In addition to a wide range of regular garden birds, including the chaffinch, wagtail, wren, robin and blue tit, our immediate vicinity is also visited by a number of seasonal birds, including swallows, the cuckoo, and the secretive nightjar. On a still summer's evening the nightjar's mesmerising call can easily be heard from our garden and in the carns beyond. Birds of prey such as kestrels and owls are extremely common here; to see a buzzard mobbed by seagulls or crows is almost a daily occurence, and the peregrine falcon is known to be nesting nearby. | ||
