Visitors wanting to escape from suburban life will find themselves surrounded by a landscape virtually unchanged for hundreds of years, in clean sea air. The paths that wind along our deeply indented coastline provide a succession of light-filled views, from the curving white sands of St. Ives, to the great weathered granite carns of the North Cornish moors. . The Coastal Path can be walked directly from Rosemergy, either direction offering unforgettable destinations in less than an hour. To the east there is the little cove of Porthmear, and the Gurnard's Head Hotel, which provides a handy watering hole. Zennor, with it's renowned Wayside museum and St. Ives, lie beyond. To the west, along probably one of the most breathtaking stretches of coastline in the UK, you will find the secluded beach of Portherras, and beyond, the villages of Pendeen, St. Just, Sennen and finally, Land's End. The ancient archaeological sites of Chun Castle, Men-an-Tol, and Lanyon Quoit are all within walking distance, as are our local coves: Porthmeor & Portherras - beautiful uncrowded beaches for those who don’t mind a steep climb! Also within easy walking distance is our excellent local pub: The Gurnard’s Head Hotel. Rock-climbing, horse riding and birdwatching are some of the other activities offered by our immediate vicinity, with public gardens, sea and coarse fishing, golf courses and pleasure flights available in the local area. Other attractions nearby include the Minack open air theatre, St. Michael’s Mount, Lands End, the Tate Gallery- St. Ives, and Geevor Tin Mine. For those keen on watersports, there is surfing, windsurfing, diving & sailing from the beaches at Marazion, St.Ives. & Sennen plus indoor swimming at the new Leisure Centre in St. Ives. The recently opened Eden project has proved to be one of the most visited venues of 2003 ,and is about one hours drive , depending on traffic, but it is certainly well worth a visit. | ||
